Currently in my role as a Program Officer at the Ontario College of Teachers in the Standards of Practice and Education Unit, I support provincial capacity building related to teacher education and First Nations, Métis and Inuit education as well as accreditation. As Chair of the First Nations, Métis & Inuit Education Association of Ontario, and former Department Head of Alternative Education and First Nations, Métis & Inuit Studies in the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board, I am a highly skilled leader dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in education. With a proven track record in providing superior professional development throughout the province, I excel in creating and maintaining strong, lasting relationships with local and provincial community partners to support student well-being and achievement. I am a fierce advocate for the environment, land-based learning and Indigenous Knowledge, including the revival of Indigenous Languages.
I am a proud wife and mother of 5 beautiful girls: Avery, Avalonn, Annika, Anaya & Ayris. Our family is actively engaged in participating in Anishinaabek ceremonies and customary practices. We are working towards growing our own food year round and hope to be able to live one day completely off the grid! We are passionate about education (my husband is currently a Math consultant) and believe that we have a sacred responsibility through our roles as educators.
